About the Department and Role

Position Summary

JobTrain seeks an experienced career coach for our IT Career Pathway alumni. The program will help them gain the skills and support they need to advance their careers and obtain economic mobility. Our IT alumni have successfully completed our 3-month training program and secured employment, often overcoming barriers. You will work with them as they continue their education and/or further their careers.

This is a full-time hybrid position at our corporate headquarters in Menlo Park working 2 days in our offices and 3 days from home.   During the initial training period, this role may require more frequent in-office days.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program. You'll work closely with a cross-functional team, including job counselors and the Impact team, to support our alumni as they plan their careers.
  • Communication. You’ll communicate consistently with our alumni, to remind them of your services and keep them informed. Deliver workshops for alumni.
  • Coaching. Provide 1-on-1 support for alumni, which includes helping them plan their career paths, providing local career resources and information about their chosen field, addressing personal and life factors, and helping them build their own networks. You'll also keep workers confident and accountable for their goals. Typical coaching topics include, but are not limited to: exploring career options, preparing for a career change, creating/updating application documents (resumes, cover letters, CVs, LinkedIn profiles, etc.), preparing for interviews, job and internship searching, and networking strategies.
  • Outcomes. Working closely with the Impact team, measure outputs and outcomes to determine program effectiveness.
  • Documentation. Document your work with the clients so we can measure success.

Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in career coaching or recruiting.
  • Knowledge of the IT industry
  • Have worked with similar clients and understand their motivation and barriers.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, comfortable in a mentoring or advising role.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Bring a set of career coaching tools and practices.
  • Great project management skills
  • Great team player
  • Basic administrative skills, familiarity with database platforms like Salesforce and spreadsheets
  • Certificate in career coaching preferred.

Compensation

JobTrain offers a competitive salary, numerous health benefit plans and premium coverage of 90%, vision and dental, flex spending and HSA programs, 401K with a 5% match after joining, EAP and emergency services, vacation time, paid sick leave, retirement program employer match, long-term disability and life insurance.  We also pay employees for 10 observed holidays including a whole week off between Christmas Eve and New Years Day.

The hiring pay range for this position is $31.21/hr - $35.68/hr
