About the Role
The Senior Manager of Instruction manages a team of vocational instructors across multiple training sectors and provides day-to-day administrative leadership to promote instructional excellence across the JobTrain career tracks and programs through instructor and curriculum development, educational technology, instructional support, and educational evaluation.
This is a hybrid role, with at least 2 days of work onsite.

Experience
- Experience with instructional design, curriculum delivery technology and providing high quality related instruction. (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience coaching, leading, or managing a successful team with a demonstrated track record of success, preferably in an educational setting.
- Experience leading large and diverse instruction team spanning multiple vocations sectors.
- Experience leading to successful completion of an accreditation process for a school or program (WASC, etc.) (required)
- Proven experience managing / coordinating cross-department projects.
- Experience working with leading edge technologies related to instruction (for example, Moodle, Connect, etc.).
Bachelor's degree or higher in Learning Science, Cognitive Psychology, Educational Technology, Educational Psychology, Human Factors, Instructional Design, Assessment, Learning Design, Curriculum Design or equivalent required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Job Knowledge: Relevant and up-to-date knowledge of vocational, post-secondary career training program requirements and curriculum. An applicable understanding of adult education / learning theory, and student-centered instructional practice. Working knowledge of relevant industry federal, state, and local laws and regulations including national accrediting organizations and state and federal licensing and regulatory offices. Working knowledge of educational software, technologies, and learning management systems to promote a wide range of teaching and learning goals.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and build a team of Vocational Career Training Instructors and represent departmental needs across the company.
- Planning and Organization: Demonstrated track record of setting and meeting goals. Strong decision making, organization, planning and implementation skills. Ability to set priorities, analyze and resolve problems, make decisions in a timely fashion, and effectively meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment. Ability to organize assigned staff and department operations in an efficient and effective manner.
- People Management: Demonstrated experience attracting, managing, developing, evaluating, and retaining staff. Ability to manage, influence and motivate individuals and teams. Skilled in holding people accountable and developing their abilities to do their jobs.
- Interpersonal Skills / Communications: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing related to operational and learning concepts. Ability to actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel and keep information confidential. Good interpersonal skills with an ability to mediate and negotiate effectively.
- Computer Skills: Mastery of MS Office to be able to use Excel, Word, and other technology and applications to support instruction / necessary to perform the job.
- Must be able to travel to different sites as needed, within Santa Clara & San Mateo Counties, including evenings and weekends
Compensation and Benefits
JobTrain offers a competitive salary, numerous health benefit plans and premium coverage of 90%, vision and dental, flex spending and HSA programs, 401K with a 5% match after joining, EAP and emergency services, vacation time, paid sick leave, long-term disability and life insurance. We also pay employees for 10 observed holidays including a whole week off between Christmas Eve and New Years Day.The hiring range is $84,975 - $91,052.00 depending upon skills, background and related experience.
